Fall is here. Temperatures are beginning to drop, the days are getting shorter, and little by little, the characteristic colors of the season are starting to appear. Bonsai trees also sense all these changes and begin preparing for winter.
Throughout spring and summer, we have accompanied our trees during their most active months. Fertilization has been an important part of their care, providing the nutrients they need during growth and helping them stay strong throughout the season.

But with the arrival of fall, a bonsai’s needs change. At this point, the goal is not to stimulate vigorous growth, but to support the tree as it gradually reduces its activity and prepares to enter winter dormancy.
At this time of year, it is important to adapt fertilization to the season. Zokamin Otoño becomes one of our main allies, as it is specifically formulated to support bonsai trees during the months leading up to winter.
We can also incorporate Zokamin Algas into our care routine. Changes in temperature, fewer daylight hours, and the conditions of fall itself can require a period of adjustment for our trees, making seaweed a useful supplement during this transition.
Another useful product at this time of year is Zokamin Kitosan X3. It can be used as additional support to help bonsai trees respond better to different types of stress and to support them through the change of season.

After months focused on growth, it is time to prepare the bonsai for a period of reduced activity.
