That is why today we are bringing you a practical guide on how to use some essential products for bonsai care, particularly useful during spring and summer—key seasons for growth and vitality.

MICROSINTOL: Direct Protection for Trunk and Branches

This product is applied undiluted, by brushing it directly onto the trunk or branches.

The best times to apply it are at the beginning of spring, when the sap begins to flow, and at the end of summer.

It is advisable to repeat the application after 30 days, applying it 2 to 3 times per vegetative cycle.

 

ZOKAMIN SPRING: Nutrients for Active Growth

This spring fertiliser can be used during any stage of the bonsai’s development.

  • Foliar application: 0.3% (3 mL/L)
  • Root application: 0.5–1% (5–10 mL/L)

The ideal frequency is every 10–15 days during peak vegetative activity (spring–summer), and every 20–30 days at the beginning and end of the cycle (early spring and autumn).

 

ZOKAMIN FLOW: Stimulating a Second Budding

Zokamin Flow is ideal for encouraging a second budding phase or for awakening the bonsai from its winter dormancy.

  • To induce a second budding: apply foliar spray at 1% (10 mL/L) 7–10 days before defoliation, once or twice.
  • To stimulate emergence from dormancy and promote even budding: apply during the green/white or pink bud phase (when both vegetative and floral buds are beginning to open), at a concentration of 1–2% (10–20 mL/L).

Ideal timing: the transitional months following winter.

 

ZOKAMIN ROOTS: Rooting and Root Strengthening

Perfect for cuttings, transplants, or general root system reinforcement.

For rooting cuttings:

  • Quick soak: 50% solution for 30–60 seconds.
  • Slow soak (24h):
    • 0.2% for herbaceous cuttings
    • 0.75% for semi-woody cuttings
    • 1.5% for woody cuttings

For transplanting or repotting, or for strengthening the root system: apply to the substrate at 0.1–0.2% (1–2 mL/L) and repeat every 3–4 weeks, totalling 2 or 3 applications.

Recommended during spring and summer.
